Waiting

Lately it seems like everything I do has to be preceded by a lengthy waiting period. I'm still waiting for some information I need to get my Sun Campus Ambassador job up and running; lectures at uni don't start until next week; it took me ages to get my placement report printed and bound (oh, and I won't get my mark back until the summer); my friends seem incapable of going out without first faffing about for at least a couple of hours; and even saving my game in Crysis takes about ten minutes (no joke - apparently it's something to do with corrupted files).
Hopefully things will start being a bit more organised next week. With lectures starting back, I'm actually looking forward to having a proper daily routine again - although I have to admit I'm not looking forward to the nine o'clock starts...
Blog me, I'm a blogging blogger

Bugger. I've been forced to join the heaving masses of people who use and propagate the 'b' word online. Part of my upcoming role as a Sun Microsystems Campus Ambassador is running a blog to talk about what's going on with the scheme - detailing my tech demos and presentations, talking about Sun tech, that sort of thing. To that end, I've now got an official Sun corporate blog. Not much going on yet, but I'll be adding more to it as I get more properly involved in the scheme.
This is my last week of relative freedom before starting back with lectures at University, so apart from doing some more work for the campus ambassador stuff (assuming I get some info that I'm needing), I'll be making the most of my free time this week before getting the head down again. If anyone fancies a game of badminton or pool, give us a shout :-D
Back in the swing of things

Strangely, I think I felt more culture shock on my return to Scotland than I did when I first went down south. I'm through the worst of it now, though, and settling happily back into life in Glasgow. I went into uni the other day to try and print off my newly-finished placement report and it felt good to be back in the old stomping grounds, especially since we now have nice labs full of shiny new machines running Kubuntu. I said 'try to print' there, though, because the colour printer in the lab is utterly shite, so I need to find some other way of printing my masterpiece...
I've been alternately quite busy over the last fortnight and not at all busy - it's as difficult as ever to get my friends organised so I've not been out as much as I'd like. Funnily enough, the easiest outing I've organised recently was a trip down south to meet up with Kim, James and Jay the weekend before last (Chris was supposed to be there too but he's as useless as ever :-p ). It's been good seeing everyone again, though - even if the number of requests to fix people's PCs is slowly mounting up and up!
I'm getting back into business with Sun this week, trying to sort out this campus ambassador business once and for all. I still haven't heard anything at all about whether my university is actually interested in the scheme or not, but I've been getting myself up to speed with the program on the assumption that it's being worked out. I just hope I don't end up wasting any time on it - it's a little worrying that I can't get any info.
That's about it, I think - although I previously forgot to mention I've made the page of pictures from Baron's Haugh that I said I'd be putting up. It's here if you're interested.
Out with the old, in with the new

Well, it's the start of another new year - hope you all had a good 2007 and will have a good 2008. I'm a bit ambivalent about 2008 myself at the moment, as it's taking me a while to readjust to life back up north. This is probably not helped by the fact the festive season is usually a bit all over the place; my sleep cycle is totally screwed just now to the extent that i'm waking up in the afternoons, including a rather strange incident yesterday where I was evidently having an archery-related dream and woke myself up by screaming "FAST!!!".
Now that we're into the new year, I'm planning on settling back into normal life again in the coming week or so. This includes getting up to speed on Sun's campus ambassador programme, which I'm still hoping to get fully involved with this semester. That being said, I'm going to have to be careful with my SunRay usage - it's munching up a fair portion of my monthly home internet bandwidth quota!
